Eastbourne Borough completed a disastrous Easter with a 1-0 defeat at Welling this afternoon.
With the Lewes v Fisher game postponed because of a waterlogged pitch, Borough remain top of Blue Square South, but have now played a game more than their Sussex rivals.

Borough produced their worst performance of the season at Welling, creating little in the way of goal-scoring opportunities.

Paul Armstrong and Andy Atkin went close, but generally it was a day to forget for Garry Wilson's team.

They did, however, look as if they were going to salvage a point until Matt Smatt conceded a penalty five minutes from time with a foul on Ellis Green. Richard Carpenter converted the spot kick despite a brave attempt to save by Lee Hook.

Eastbourne United AFC cruised to a 5-1 win against Hailsham Town in the County League local derby at the Oval.

Goals from James Bywater, Carl Harris (a 35-yard free-kick), a Paul Richardson own goal, Mark Warren and Tom Morton completed the rout with Sam Cole replying for Hailsham.
