The 3-1 win at Stevenage Borough has given everybody at the club a massive lift.
The boss told us afterwards that it is the first time we have ever beaten a Conference club and it was great to get rid of that statistic early on in the season.
To be honest we would have settled for a draw but to get the three points against a very good side was fantastic.
I don't think too many teams will go there and get the three points – it was a job well done.
We had all been looking forward to the first game of the season against Rushden and Diamonds and although we played well against one of the division's top sides, there was big disappointment in the changing room afterwards.
Of course there are many positives we can take from the game, the fact we created so many good chances at this level is a big plus.
It's not always easy to say whether a game is good or bad to watch when you've played in it but I think the crowd on Saturday, which gave us great support as always, will have enjoyed the match.
As a team we looked pretty solid all round, limiting Rushden to a few long range efforts while going forward we had enough chances to at least get a draw, if not win the three points.
Now the milestone of the first game in the Blue Square Premier is over we need to knuckle down and pick up points as this is going to be a very long tough season.
We travel to Oxford this week for what will be another tough game. They have not made the best of starts so if we can perform well and get the crowd on their backs early on it could make a difference. We will go there with confidence.
Last season we had a great changing room off the pitch and a great work ethic on it, and again this year we have the same great bunch of lads with the new lads settling in well.
These are going to be important attributes over the next 40 weeks.
