Eastbourne Borough are just 90 minutes away from Blue Square Premier division football after comfortably ending any lingering hope Braintree Town may have had of reaching the final hurdle.
Borough now make the journey to Stonebridge Road, Northfleet, home of Ebbsfleet United FC on Thursday night when they will face Hampton & Richmond who defeated Fisher Athletic on penalties in the other semi.

Borough were cheered to a 3-0 (agg 5-0) victory by a bumper Priory Lane of 1,802 who gave the players a huge ovation at the end of Saturday's game.

Garry Wilson's men went into the match defending a 2-0 advantage from the first leg and the visitors made it clear they were not prepared to lay down and die.
They put Borough under early pressure and there was a home scare in the 16th minute when Marc Pullan hobbled off with a shin injury after what looked a two-footed challenge from James Hawes.

While Pullan was off receiving treatment Eugene Ofori missed a great chance to put Braintree ahead when he fired wide from 12 yards.

Pullan returned but still Braintree maintained the pressure with Lee Hook at full stretch to grab Chris Sullivan's lob.

But in the 41st minute Borough all but booked their ticket into the final with a classic goal.

Matt Crabb showed great vision in finding Darren Budd on the right with a crossfield pass and Budd's cross was crashed spectacularly home by Allan Tait from an angle on the left.

This was the goal that settled Borough's nerves and they played some superb second half football which kept Braintree very much on the back foot.
Tait could have had a hat-trick, firstly lifting the ball over the bar from six yards after magnificent work by Matt Crabb on the left and then seeing a fierce volley superbly saved by 6ft 7ins keeper Nick Morgan after an Andy Atkin nod on.

Atkin shot into the side netting following a classic flick by Tait as it seemed another Borough goal simply had to come.

But Braintree were still not finished and when speedy sub Louis Riddle raced through and rounded Hook, it seemed he had to pull one back – but somehow he completed fluffed his final effort sending the ball aimlessly over the bar.

With Nathan Crabb, Matt Smart and Jay Lovett all on as subs, it was Nathan Crabb who made it 2-0 in the 87th minute making no mistake from close range after a Smart cut-back.

It was close to celebration time and when Atkin headed home Matt Crabb's cross from the left in stoppage time, the crowd went wild.

Now all roads on Thursday night lead to the rather mundane venue of Ebbsfleet United, the league having switched the venue from Stevenage.

Borough look certain to have a full-strength squad to choose from, while Hampton will sure be feeling the effects of a more much exhausting 120-minute battle with Fisher.

Nobody is counting their chickens at Priory Lane, but the signs are looking promising for promotion to the Premier in what will be Borough's second final appearance in three years.
