Eastbourne Borough will travel to Braintree on Tuesday night for the the first leg of the Blue Square South play-offs.
Boro's 1-0 defeat at Braintree, in their final league match of the season, ensured Braintree nipped in to take the last play-off spot as Newport County, Eastleigh and Bath City missed out.

The winner of the two leg clash will then go on to face the winner of the second play-off tie between Hampton & Richmond and Fisher Athletic.

Marc Pullan, Allan Tait, Matt Smart, Ben Austin and Robbie Kember all returned as skipper Paul Armstrong, Darren Baker and Pat Harding were rested.

Boro had the lion's share of the first half and young striker Evan Archibald could have had a hat-trick if his finishing had been sharper.

The only goal of an exciting contest came three minutes into the second half. Chris Sullivan pulled the ball back for Adrian Deane and his shot deflected in off Dominic Douglas's hand. Douglas later hobbled off the pitch injured.

Boro kept pushing for an equaliser and the introduction of brothers Matt and Nathan Crabb for Adam Wilde and Allan Tait added extra imputus.

Indeed, it was Nathan who almost grabbed a late leveller when he saw his shot crash off the bar and his follow-up effort superbly cleared off the line by Ryan Moran.

Boro's returning wounded all came through the match unscathed and Wilson's men will surely be confident in facing Braintree over two legs.

Supporters wishing to travel to Braintree on Tuesday, April 29 should contact Les Baker on 01323 735378.

The second leg will be held at Priory Lane Saturday, May 3.

Meanwhile, Eastbourne Town rounded off their season in style with an excellent 2-1 victory at Kingstonian. Luke Denton and Liam Baitup scored the Town goals.

Hailsham Town ended their campaign with a 1-1 home draw against Pagham.
