A NEW store which is due to open in Seaford this month will be donating hundreds of pounds to good causes.
Building work on the old Caffyns garage site in Sutton Park Road, where a Tesco Express will be located, is currently underway.

The store, which is now set to open its doors on November 27, will be giving £500 towards the Mayor's charities and £50
0 to the Seaford Young Personality of the Year Awards.

Tesco Express store manager Alex Parsons said, "We are delighted to be opening a Tesco Express store in Seaford and we hope that the choice and convenience will be welcomed by local residents.

"We also hope to become a part of the community and want to become a good neighbour. For our launch we are making donations to both the Mayor's charities and also Seaford Town Council, and we hope that as many people as possible will join us for the celebrations."

The Seaford Young Personality of the Year Awards scheme is the idea of Councillor Bob Sinclair and includes three categories – sport, academic and community service.

It is open to young people aged between 11 and 18 (on March 31 2009) who are living in Seaford and have excelled in these fields.

Cllr Sinclair was partly inspired by the success of local teenager Sarah Taylor who is the wicket keeper of the England Women's Cricket Team.

Entry forms for the scheme can be picked up from Seaford Town Council at 37 Church Street and all nominations must be received by March 31 2009.

The Mayor's charities include St James' Trust and Smile Train, a charity providing free cleft surgery for millions of poor children in developing countries.
