Michael Kingscote visited the 14th Century Star Inn for a radio show feature for Halloween.
While there he, his partner Kim and a team from Sovereign Radio went around the site and experienced different paranormal activity. A photograph taken duri
ng the investigation also uncovered a man in the background who Michael says was not there at the time it was taken.
He said, "I went in with an open mind, but found this place to be one of the most 'active' in that at one point I questioned as to whether some of the equipment that I use on such an investigation might be malfunctioning.
"The main area of study was the heritage room. While we were directly under it we heard hard footsteps go along, and we know that there was no- one in there."
"Myself, Sharon from Sovereign Radio and my partner Kim all heard a heavy moan. The thing is I was alone, and they were together downstairs, yet it seems that we heard it at the same time."
And referring to the photo that features a man in the background he said, "I have never had anything that appears so clear. I have highlighted it for clarity, but it looks like a priest and an arm stroking his face. From the angle the arm would have to have been lying down.
"When the picture was taken there was just me, Kim who took the picture, and the manager Cherril Starmer.
"The image seems to be a reflected image bounced off a one-way glass into an office (this is common as the theory is that a spirit or ghost uses light to form)."
Cherril said a number of incidents had happened before the visit from Michael including a housekeeper being 'pushed' out of one of the rooms when there was no-one else there and a glass of wine falling off a table.
She said, "We were in the bar having a drink after service. My husband had bought me a drink. There was a drink on the edge of a round table and my husband put my drink in the middle of the table.
"My husband and a barmaid watched my glass move across the table and smash on the floor.
"The thing was that if a wine glass falls onto carpet it normally smashes into two or three pieces, this smashed into thousands of pieces.
"It was very good when Michael came.
"A thermometer was placed in parts of the room and it was really cold and then the temperature would suddenly come up again. There are stories that people have told us.
"The ghosts don't interfere with us and we don't interfere with them – they seem quite friendly."
