Crime in brief
POLICE were called to Morrisons supermarket after reports of a shoplifter.
Officers attended on July 7 and a 46-year-old man was given an £80 fixed penalty notice for stealing items worth £8.44.
He had been stashing the items in a carrier bag he ha
d produced from his pocket.


TWO men were taken to the DGH for treatment after a fight in Clinton Place on July 11. Police were called to the scene after reports that two men had been attacked by a group. A 16-year-old and a 20-year-old had hospital treatment for cuts and bruises.
Two 15-year-old boys were arrested and taken to Eastbourne detention centre. Both were released on bail and will return in August.
If anyone saw the incident, which took place outside the Scope shop, they should call PC Tom Williamson of Seaford Police on 0845 60 70 999 and quote serial 2148 of July 11.


A TEENAGER was given a police reprimand for punching a man in the face.
Police spotted the assault while on patrol in Broad Street. The victim did not want to pursue the matter, but the 17-year-old attacker was given a reprimand for section 4 of the public order act, resisting arrest and common assault.


A MAN walking along Jevington Drive was left bruised and bloodied after an attacker leapt out of a car and punched him several times.
The victim had noticed a small saloon vehicle being driven slowly behind him. He heard a door slam and the car then pulled onto the pavement in front of him.
He was then hit several times to the head, leaving him with a black eye, swollen lips and cut ear.
The offender then got into the passenger side door of the vehicle and made off.
Police are asking for anyone who may have seen the incident or has any knowledge of the attack to contact the officer investigating the incident, PC Ben Plows from Peacehaven, on 0845 60 70 999 quoting serial number 217 of July 12.
