AN application for advertising signage at Downs Leisure Centre in Seaford has been objected to by members of the town's planning and highways committee.
The application is for the retention of five post mounted signs and one banner sign for the facility in Sutton Road.

But at last Thursday's meeting, the signs were branded 'tatty' and 'unsightly' by some councillors.

Councillor Julian Peterson said, "I think these signs are tatty and unprofessional. If they need to put signs up fine but it does them no credit, they should put better ones up.

"I just think if you look at them they look unprofessional and messy."
Councillor Ian White said the centre was a wonderful resource for the town but that the signs were a bit of an eyesore.

The committee objected to the application on the grounds of being unsightly and of poor quality. They added that they accepted one of the five signs which were in the plan.

Lewes District Council will make a final decision at a later date.
