A SEAFORD resident has received an award for her dedication to a charity committee.
Marion Palmer has been on the Seaford committee of Cancer Research UK for 36 years.
She received a special certificate on Saturday on the day of the charity's Christmas fair.
She said, "I got involved because my mother was on the committee for many years. I said I would take on the role of secretary.
"When my mother retired she was chairman and I took over from her. And I am still chairman today."
Mrs Palmer, who has been chairman for more than 10 years, added, "I think that cancer has touched an awful lot of members of the committee.
"The people in Seaford are very generous and supported us and always have.
"It was a big surprise to get the award. I don't feel I deserve it but it's for the committee as well and everyone who has supported us."
