A PROPOSAL to make part of Broad Street one way has been backed by town councillors.
The matter was discussed by members of Seaford Town Council's planning and highways committee after residents asked for changes to be made to put a stop to nuisance traffic.

The area concerned is the part of Broad Street between Stafford Road and Blatchington Road.

The committee has been asked to recommend to East Sussex County Council that the street be made one way.

Councillor Tracy Willis said, "I absolutely support this. The residents down there for many a year have raised quite a few concerns about the road."

Some of the councillors said other nearby roads could benefit from being made one way, and Ernie Hill, a Seaford resident, suggested a more extensive one way system in that area.

The committee agreed to the initial recommendation that the part of Broad Street between Stafford Road and Blatchington Road be made on way so that traffic could not proceed from Blatchington Road towards the junction of Stafford Road.
