The finishing touches are being put to the third annual Eastbourne RNLI regatta.
Organisers of the major Sovereign Harbour based fundraising event are hoping to raise in excess of £18,000 for the lifesaving charity.
A variety of local businesses have put their names and cash down to support the regatta which attracts around 1,000 people.
As well as the events taking place on the water, this year extra importance has been placed on the entertainment for those who prefer terra firma.
The event takes place in and around Sovereign Harbour next weekend, August 25, 26 and 27.
Mark Sawyer, lifeboat coxswain and joint organiser of the Eastbourne RNLI regatta, said, ''This event gets bigger and better each year and this has only happened because of the kind support of the business community and our many supporters around the town.
''The first year we raised £14,000 which was all ring fenced only to be spent in Eastbourne. A further £2,000 was raised last year to give us £16,000 profit and this year we're expecting to go even further.
''All the money raised is excellent but the regatta's main aim is to highlight the work of the RNLI and bring the seafaring community together to enjoy themselves.
''I'm sure everyone who has taken part in a regatta event or has been down to the after race events will say they've enjoyed themselves.
''It's an excellent atmosphere.''
Due to high tides occurring earlier in the day, some events have been moved to fit around the high water.
There are also opportunities for children to have a go at kayak canoeing in the outer harbour on Saturday (August 25) and Sunday (August 26) at 1pm.
A spectacular sight will await those viewing the fishing boat race in the outer harbour on Sunday (August 26) at 12.30pm.
Fishing vessels from all along the East Sussex coast are dressed up and their ''sailors'' take on the role of pirates.
Mr Sawyer added, ''There is plenty for everyone to do and even if you don't want to take part there is lots to see.''
To buy tickets for the afternoon and evening entertainment, priced at £5 for adults and £3.50 for children, call the lifeboat station on 470206.
VIP tickets are also available at £12.50.
