The ‘catch 22’ of new trains deal

I GOT to thinking about why we were sending the contract for our new trains to Germany.

There can only be two reasons for this – one, that the British standard of workmanship is very poor. or two, the Germans are very much cheaper. If it is the latter, has the long term effect been taken into consideration?

We shall lose our skilled labour force that will never pay tax any more and will probably be on benefits for the rest of their lives.

Where are the savings here?
