Strange angle on finance affairs

IN 1982 I came to live in Eastbourne and two of the first things I did were to open accounts in branches of my Oxford Street bank, one in Terminus Road, just across from the Army and Navy stores, which I rang my bell for on occasions and the other in Green Street.

Since then they’ve been taken over by fish & chip restaurants - The Qualisea and the excellent Trident.

I’m now financially based at Bankers’ Corner, and for a while I took advantage of a cashpoint in Green Street, at a branch of the Halifax, but yet again a useful facility has been denied me and a very attractive wet fish shop has taken over.

There’s something very fishy going on! You plaice or mine?
