Sing praises of good shops

Have your say

We all know independent retailers who are special to us, and I’d like to sing the praises of three where merchandise, service and presentation are of the highest standard.

Scott’s Newsagents in Victoria Drive in the Old Town stocks a great variety of all manner of goods and if they don’t have your requirements they will go out of their way to get them.

It’s not just service with a smile here – good humour and laughter are much in evidence and every customer is treated with courtesy and kindness.

At the Bumper Book Shop in Grove Road Elizabeth and Geoff know a great deal about books for children and should you need assistance choosing a book they offer invaluable assistance.

There is plenty of space for pushchairs and the books are within easy access as are the original games, toys, gifts and sticker books on offer. There is also a cafe within the shop.

Banana Tree is in Terminus Road opposite the station, and it’s a real gem. Lucy opened her shop some years back and the stock is superb. Lucy’s team are delightful and you have only to look at the attractive and frequent changing window displays to know that inside will be special.

ANGELA CROCKATT,

Long Acre Close.
