Should shoppers be compensated for the loss of the Langney Centre?

My wife and I, as regular shoppers at the Langney Shopping Centre, fully agree with our MP, Stephen Lloyd, that it is outrageous that London & Associated Properties are charging the traders there, the rents during the period the shopping centre has been closed.

The responsibility for the roof collapsing is with the owners/landlords of the shopping centre, and therefore the traders should get together to sue them for loss of earnings to their businesses during the period it has been closed.

Also, (with tongue in cheek!) we as regular shoppers should be given shopping vouchers (say £50), to compensate us for the inconvenience we have been put to, by having to go elsewhere for our shopping!
