Scruffy nation: Scruffy streets

I SYMPATHISE with A. Conolly - Herald, February 25. Those who own dogs and allow them to foul the public areas are a menace.

It happens continuously around Sovereign Harbour (and I think they are the same people) despite there being an infants school en route and all that implies.

The solution is not difficult. A meaningful fine of at least £250, or being made to clear the mess up would soon see improvements - but I wouldn’t hold your breath.

We’ve always been a scruffy nation and compared to the likes of Germany don’t place very high value on public decency.
