HAVING lived in Mallorca for the last five years, I am writing to express my dismay at the state of the roads in Eastbourne.
At least 90 per cent of the roads in Mallorca are smooth and a pleasure to drive on.
Not only this, fuel goes further and tyres last a lot longer.
Compared with the roads here which to put it mildly are a disgrace for a country of our standing.
The wear and tear on vehicles is also great and costs all of motorists more than it should together with the discomfort of bumpy rides.
Never mind the savings which have to be made due to the financial crisis, this is no excuse to cover up the neglect to our roads which has gone on for years past.
The local council and the county council should be pestered by all of us to get their attention on what is becoming a very serious problem which can only get worse if left unattended.
