MAY I make a plea to those in charge of the Eastbourne Crematorium on behalf of those who are hard of hearing or deaf as we are still often unkindly described.
Would you please make arrangements for the loop hearing system displayed in the main chapel to be switched on during the funeral service.
It has been a sad duty for me on three occasions this year to attend funeral services of friends or past colleagues and the hearing system has not been switched on.
As a result, many attending were unable even to hear the hymn numbers when read out.
The so-called Celebration of Life common in many services becomes a meaningless scramble of half-understood words and the full and often dedicated life of the deceased is lost to many of the congregation.
