ON Friday, July 6, we had to get a taxi to Eastbourne to pick up our holiday coach.
We are both disabled but our taxi driver said that because of a ruling by Eastbourne Borough council he was not allowed to drop us in the bus lane.
However, as he could see that there was no way we could carry our luggage he very kindly did drop us at the correct bus stand, therefore running the risk of getting into trouble.
There seems to be in Eastbourne Council a policy to make life for disabled people as difficult as possible (also echoed by the DGH).
Why have taxis been stopped from bringing passengers to pick up points in the bus lane.
This has been done for years, and as these pick-ups are usually early in the morning and the return late in the evening the bus lanes are not that busy.
