LETTERS: Monstrosity got go-ahead

It’s apparent to me and everyone else that planning regulations must be enforced. But it is such a pity that the same town planners are not with us as existed in the mid 1950s. If they were, the UPVC window saga at The East Beach Hotel would not now be a problem.

Why do I say this? Quite simply, just take a brief glance at the frontage of The Cavendish Hotel and its east wing, built as a result of a bombing raid on May 4, 1942. Here we have a truly royal carbuncle, but then again perhaps there was a certain amount of friendly back scratching for this monstrosity to get the go-ahead.
