LETTER: Who is Stephen Lloyd trying to kid?

Have your say

Having read his comments in your 15th July issue, he now intends (by popular demand!) to save us here in Eastbourne from both ‘the imploding political system’ (he voted to remain) and from the dangerous menace of Caroline Ansell. Such altruism is amazing coming from someone who, on Election Day 2015, asked me to have a bet with him that he would win. I told him “I would not wish to take his money.” His arrogance received its just reward.

Come off it, Stephen, you’ve never forgiven the non-acolyte Eastbourne voters who decided you weren’t good enough for them. In just over one year Caroline Ansell has achieved more that he did in five years.

He says “there was a huge out pouring when he lost his seat.” This did not compare with the cascade of joy from those who had voted for Caroline. Eastbourne is and will remain a Conservative seat and does not need an ex-Liberal MP to muddy the waters in a hostile manner when our town is enjoying considerable success.

His personal version of ‘Project Fear’ is no more acceptable than it was during the referendum. He should also recall how he only succeeded in 2010 after two court cases brought against Nigel Waterson. He should now retire gracefully.

Stephen Lloyd has nothing to offer. His party has been reduced to nonentity status and two-thirds of Eastbourne voted for Brexit. Although David Tutt may be his friend, his comments were disgraceful and unbefitting an EBC leader.

An apology to Caroline Ansell is undoubtedly warranted. It’s time they both distinguished reality from fantasy.

Michael Harris, South Cliff.
