LETTER: Where are the bobbies?

Ms Harris’ observation on policing in last week’s Herald accords with my own experience.

I cannot recall seeing a single policeman on the beat when out shopping in Terminus Road and Diesel Alley in three and a half years living in Eastbourne.

The contrast whenever I visit Spain cannot be starker, you see more police on the street in a week than a year in the UK.

I suspect the Spanish are not tied up in bureaucracy, targets and policing political correctness and thought crime as the police are here.

If there are two things the public want from Sussex Police, surely it’s a service that is visible and one that focuses on real crime and disorder.
