LETTER: Warranty on beach huts?

In the Eastbourne Herald [September 9] you reported how the beach huts on the Wish Tower beach became rotten after a short time. This was because they were constructed from cheap shiplap timber unsuitable for the harsh conditions of Eastbourne seafront.

I was concerned that the new beach huts on the seafront at Fort Fun would go the same way as they are also constructed from the same cheap shiplap. However, the contractors have assured the council that there will be no problem. We shall see! If they have such confidence in their product then surely they can have no qualms in offering a warranty – say 10 years? The council should demand one.
