LETTER: Speeding fears on rural lanes

Why is it that vehicles are allowed to speed down our country lanes? It is not possible to walk, cycle or ride a horse without the fear of encountering a speeding vehicle, making approaching bends a real worry. We need to amend the speed laws on lanes and bring them up to date. I wouldn’t ride my bike along an ‘A’ road but the speed limit where there is property is less than on our lanes. We need to make our lanes a safer place for all road users to enjoy, not used as a rat run for motorists who don’t care about the community I live in.
