Jake Lambert makes a good point about the ‘Tampon Tax’ in his letter in the Herald [November 6]. This is a tax imposed by the decision makers in the European Union, based, presumably, on their judgement that women’s sanitary products are luxury items! It’s decisions like this made by bureaucrats who are neither elected nor able to be voted out, which highlights the need for the UK to return to government from Westminster rather than from Brussels. We’ll have the opportunity to do this by voting to leave the EU in the forthcoming referendum on EU membership within the next two years.
