LETTER: Rattonians shine again

The Addams Family ... no not that one! I refer to the (spelt differently) Eastbourne family of Mark, Melanie and Alex Adams.

Yet again my wife and I, together with our family, were treated to a spectacular Rattonians Christmas Show at the Congress Theatre brilliantly produced and directed by Mark and Melanie which I feel is worth a serious mention.

The colour and quality of the costumes wouldn’t be out of place on the West End stage and bearing in mind that all the actors, dancers and children are amateurs, or still at school, the overall performance is truly remarkable.

For so many years we have seen all the Rattonians concerts, and not just at Christmas. We admire the way they are able to bring on the young children who we have watched grow up over the years – something we know from personal experience having watched our grandson Alex Dry from a very young age playing the lead in Oliver and Bugsy Malone together with so many singing and dancing routines as part of the ensemble.

We will always marvel at the almost professional skills on show and of course the fine abilities of Mark’s son Alex who, going back to this current show, was to take part in a most poignant duet with his Dad towards the end of the show and then what a finish followed!

If our new MP Caroline Ansell is reading this letter I am thinking that it may be about time Mark and Melanie are recognised for their tireless work in first creating and thence developing the Rattonians over so many years.
