LETTER: ‘Rampant selfishness’ in school meeting

Last week’s public meeting for the new Cavendish Primary school was a spectacle in rudeness and rampant selfishness. Arguments for the need of a primary school in our town were drowned out by local residents shouting out and heckling about traffic. I’m glad that no school children were there to see the bad manners shown by the elders who live around the school. A brand new primary school and facilities for the community: “Not in my backyard” is the reply from those (mainly retired) people who don’t like the thought of young families getting their kids to school.
