I’m writing regarding ‘Hopes for forgotten bandstand to be returned to former glory’ by Harry Pope [Herald, July 24].
It is a pity that Mr Pope did not attend the public meeting at the Winter Gardens on June 9 when the plans for the whole of the Redoubt site were discussed, or read the report of that meeting in the Herald. Both explained in detail what is to happen to the colonnade and the former bandstand site and why.
In my opinion the proposed works will greatly enhance accessibility to the Redoubt Fort. As Jo Seaman says, there are many untold stories in Eastbourne’s history and the proposed works at the Redoubt Fort will create a museum of which all Eastbourne can be proud.
