LETTER: ‘Outrageous slur on town’

I was delighted to read that Eastbourne Borough Council leader David Tutt is querying data from the World Health Organisation claiming that our town is one of the most polluted in the country.

I have never heard such rubbish from the WHO and I challenge them to come to Eastbourne, meet myself, our MP Caroline Ansell and Councillor Tutt.

The figures just cannot be right – we are, after all, the sunshine capital of the south – and I believe this to be an outrageous slur on our great town . I have been in Eastbourne for 16 years and the air couldn’t be more beautiful, more fresh or more clean. That is one of the attractions of our wonderful town, and this report is an unnecessary slur right at the start of the tourist reason.

How can they have reached this conclusion? I simply don’t believe it.
