I took my dog out for a walk in Hampden Park on Thursday afternoon and found the morning’s storm had caused the drain covers to lift and raw human sewage and other nasties to pour out over the footpath that runs behind the children’s playground.
This path then goes between the public and private tennis courts and on into Ham Shaw wood.
Just prior to these woods another manhole had spewed it’s foul contents.
I tried reporting this to the Enviroment Agency and East Sussex Council but they were not interested. As I consider this to be a public health hazard, I then reported it to the police via their non-emergency number.
I hope and pray that this got cleaned up before either a child or a family pet got poisoned.
