We regularly hear on the BBC that the NHS is cash-strapped. Recently I attended an outpatient appointment, following which I was told I would be seen again some time later. I handed the paper in at the appointments desk.
Four days later I received the appointment in the post, from Bristol – efficient yes, but what about the cost to the NHS – the secretary, not to mention stationery and postage. This must surely be repeated many times daily throughout the UK. How much money could be saved if it was possible for appointments to be made at the desk whenever possible ?
