LETTER: Little to offer the gay scene

9
Have your say

I do not want to be a killjoy but, while there may be support for a gay pride event in Eastbourne, who in their right mind would consider that it would be successful?

Why would the gay scene want to come to the town? We have a beautiful seafront but totally boring – no fantastic illuminations, no water features. The pier, which while it is now under new ownership, has not produced anything to write home about.

We see lots of gold, but the clock has no hands ,the original lamps damaged by the fire have not been restored, and there is no illumination anywhere.

We have very well laid out town centre shopping area but, again, totally boring. Trees are being cut down left, right and centre soon Terminus Road will be barren.

If gay pride were to take place what has the town got to offer after the grand parade is over? There are no gay clubs or pubs etc. Big vibrant cities attract pride events but sadly Eastbourne will not. The authorities need to get some flair and put Eastbourne on the map.
