LETTER: Leave me with nothing to do

I am a lone volunteer picking up rubbish on our downs. On Monday, December 14, I saw a vast amount of it in the Beachy Head car park just a few feet from an empty bin.

Among the cigarette packaging, food debris, bottles and cans, and a host of other rubbish, I found 15 small silver canisters, which, I have been informed, are legal highs.

I collected a further four bags of rubbish. Through your paper can I urge the public to take their rubbish home or use the bins.

Should they notice an eccentric older man collecting litter on the downs, give me a wave. Better still, leave me nothing to pick up.
