It’s very sad in this day and age that, although the Eastbourne Remembrance Service at the War Memorial roundabout is well supported, the opportunity for public participation is quite frankly RUBBISH!
I have attended the service for a good number of years and viewed, in all weathers, from almost every area around the memorial. Given that all the parade participants need to be lined up all around, this leaves the supporting general public very much on the outside edges, where it is almost impossible to hear the public address system.
I really can’t believe that it would not be possible to arrange a better system so that any attendees could feel properly part of the celebrations. It doesn’t seem too much to ask, for an hour a year, for such an obviously important occasion.
