LETTER: Hospital travel so inefficient

I’m gobsmacked that patients who live in Eastbourne now have to travel for treatment at The Conquest Hospital in Hastings and vice verse.

Surely moving the doctors and specialists around would be more efficient.

Some time ago I took a friend to Eastbourne DGH who had had an accident. He got admitted after about four hours.

Also in the waiting room were two ladies who had brought in a three-year-old little girl who had broken her arm.

They had been there for the four hours, I suppose, and were leaning on each other to stop them falling on the floor at two in the morning from sheer tiredness.

Then someone came in and said ‘they had set the arm’ and the little girl must now be driven to The Conquest to get it plastered. I hope they made it without having an accident.

Having had a broken leg when I was younger and seen how it is done, I think if they had given me plaster bandages and a pail of water I could of done it in 10 minutes.
