LETTER: Eastbourne is for the young and the old

As grandparents of four noisy, small children Initially, my wife and I laughed when we read the letter from Malcolm Shelfer relating to noisy children. Then we talked about the Victorian adage of ’children being seen and not heard’. However, bearing this in mind our discussion turned to those poor children who had been sexually abused from Rotherham who when they wanted to be heard by adults, they to were treated with contempt for being noisy, awkward children.

I suggest that maybe some of us older folk need to remember that Eastbourne is a holiday resort for the young as well as the old. Also, sometimes, children need to be seen and heard.
