LETTER: Cuckoo Trail so overgrown

Not having been to the Cuckoo Trail at Hailsham for some time I was amazed to see how overgrown it had become – to the extent that if it is not attended to shortly the pathways will become too dense to walk.

Perhaps cutbacks have meant there is no money for this project. I have never in the 12 years I have lived in this area seen it so overgrown.

Also, I realise that the trail is for both walkers and people on bikes but the speed some of these cyclists are riding at is getting to the dangerous stage. It does state that cyclists must ring their bell to warn walkers of their approach but many do not.

You are suddenly confronted from behind by a fast moving person a bike.

We are prepared to move over for people on bikes but they must also realise there are people on foot and to ride with this in mind.
