LETTER: Crack down on the dirty dogs

I write with reference to the claim by the borough council that they will “reinvest the money they get from selling the farms on the downs to improve the visitors’ experience”. Can I request that they install some dog poo stations and a warden to empty them? I have noticed over the last year an enormous increase in the number of dogs, often with professional dog walking companies, being allowed to foul areas where children play and fly kites and the go-karters ‘play’.

I hope some of their reinvestment can run to cover this issue and maintain healthy downland areas. As a keen kite flyer myself, I think this is of fundamental importance.
