J. Luce asks if the European Parliament still moves once a year from Brussels to Strasbourg. If only that were so, J. Luce. No, I’m afraid the EU parliament moves, lock, stock, and barrel once per month at an annual cost of around £114 million, and a cost to the environment of some 10,000 tonnes of CO2. This farcical trip from Brussels to Strasbourg and back has been going on since 1992, and is unlikely to end soon as it is enshrined in a treaty. There are actually some in the ‘remain’ camp who don’t believe that taxpayers’ money is wasted on the EU.
