Mike Grant’s letter (February 6) is typical of many published by this newspaper over the years on this subject: Nothing changes! I recently drove from Tunbridge Wells to Eastbourne – litter all the way, except when approaching Eastbourne, it got worse. A similar drive through West Germany - no litter!
Obviously common decency and civic pride doesn’t effect most Brits.
There is a simple solution: a sensible, say £250 fine for all anti-social behaviour - watch it drop by 90%. But of course, some civic leaders will be far more concerned with offenders’ human rights.
