LETTER: Chance for young writers to take part in competition

My First Story is the brand new, fun story writing competition for young writers aged five to seven years, that’s
a literacy all-rounder that teachers and pupil alike will love.

Young Writers are inviting schools in the Eastbourne, Hailsham and Seaford areas to submit their pupils’ short stories to their brand new, national competition, tailored especially to Key Stage 1 pupils.

Each story submitted will be read by Young Writers’ editorial team and considered for a regional anthology.

The best writer in each book will be awarded a personalised notepad and a set of Staedtler Noris Colour colouring pencils!

Young Writers has created
five themed templates to assist pupils with writing
their stories, plus a blank template is provided online
so teachers can pick a theme for their class should they wish to.

An optional lesson plan is also available, which uses a sequencing activity to help pupils understand the format of a story.

To request a competition pack and find out more about My First Story, please visit Young Writers’ website. Entries can be submitted online or by post and need to reach us by Friday March 27.
