The British Music Hall Society is arranging for a Blue Plaque to be erected in Eastbourne in honour of the famous comedian Sandy Powell.
Sandy staged summer shows for many years at the Pier Theatre and became so popular with the locals that he acquired the soubriquet Mr. Eastbourne.
He and his wife Kay lived from the late 1950s at 11, Elms Avenue and it is on the front of that property that the blue plaque will be unveiled in April.
The Powells did not have any children but the BMHS is keen to trace any relatives of either Sandy or Kay in order that they be invited to the unveiling ceremony.
