LETTER: Active and influential partner in Europe

While I remain a million miles away from being a fan of David Cameron, his Government even further, I do believe that the Prime Minister has worked tirelessly to achieve a new and better deal for Britain inside the EU.

To this account I remain convinced that our country’s future security, prosperity, employment and social justice and human rights are best served and protected by remaining an active and influential partner in Europe. The alternative, I believe, would produce a far-right led government at Westminster.

To close, it’s worth keeping in mind the fact that both Norway and Switzerland are outside the EU but, because they want to trade with those inside as we in this country would, they have to obey EU demand – while having no say whatsoever in decision making.

Moreover, they are still obliged to take in migrants and refugees as part of their trading agreement.
