Learning the lessons of the past

I WAS interested to read the letter in the Eastbourne Herald dated January 27, entitled “Preventing the Spread of Infections”.

I think your correspondent may be referring to the precautions taken during outbreaks of Foot and Mouth Disease.

When I was employed as a milk analyst at a local dairy, during an outbreak much attention was important in the prevention of the spread of the disease where, at the end of each day, the lorries were hosed down thoroughly with extra care given to the wheels.

I am also interested to know how many cases of the MRSA virus, if any, have occurred outside of the hospitals.
