Forgotten town of the district

I’M SURE I am not the only Seaford resident deeply disappointed Lewes District Council has finally approved the development by McCarthy and Stone at the Beachcomber site, after numerous appeals.

I wonder what was different this time?

A quick glance at Rightmove shows three full pages of retirement apartments already for sale in Seaford, so I will be amazed if the new development sells to local people.

However, I’m not surprised Lewes has given the go-ahead - looking through My County you would be hard-pressed to find a mention of Seaford, which does nothing to dispel the feeling that we are the “forgotten town” of Lewes district.

This development, which does not impact on Lewes at all, is one more addition to the increasingly bland appearance of Seaford seafront.
