As a cyclist I agree with Anna Richards (‘Cyclists on the pavement should be stopped and fined, ’), but only to a degree.
Most of the ‘mad’ cyclists need to be educated, especially school children who charge along and never give a warning. I am sure it is the law to have a bell.
As for the improved cycle path from Willingdon, which I used on a trip to Polegate only to find it stopped over the brow of the hill and had to resort to the pavement (yet again), it’s no good having a cycle path that doesn’t go anywhere.
Cyclists have to have respect for people using the pavement by slowing down, dismount and use a bell (quietly) when approaching, and should also be banned from the bus lane, it’s very dangerous.
