IT’S great to have good news in these austere times of cuts and reduced budgets at East Sussex County Council, and I am delighted to see the Eldon Road crossing in Old Town up and running!
I launched the petition, on behalf of Old Town Conservatives, for this crossing five years ago.
As a local parent and grandparent with children at the nearby schools over the past 30 years, it has been apparent that a crossing was needed in Eldon Road – with its ever-increasing volume of traffic – to help prevent accidents.
Following our petition and hard work on behalf of local residents, the county council ensured that it was added to the priority list.
This is a real success story and I know that residents like me are delighted with the news, and our thanks go to East Sussex County Council for prioritising and installing it.
