THERE is a way of creating a homely and safe environment for aged people planning their future care. This suggestion has been thought of and carried out successfully by a group of remarkable pensioners - all friends based in the West of England - who decided they had to come up with their own way of doing things.
They clubbed together to buy a large property thus saving it from redevelopment. It was converted into single rooms en suite.
There was medical assistance available and a resident housekeeper with nursing qualifications. This idea was created to deliver the best quality of life. It was put into practice and was successful where lifestyle and care go hand in hand. They all looked after one another.
How much better this sounds than existing in a care home or a nursing home. Having visited several I vow never to end up in one. ALICE STAPLETON
