Whoever runs how the parking is done at Eastbourne District General hospital has obviously never been disabled.
Their latest plan, effective from next Monday, is that disabled parking is now as far away as possible from the entrances to the hospital. It is where the staff parking is and at the rear by the physiotherapy department, where if you need the front of the hospital is a considerable walk.
The parking near to the front entrance will now be for paying parking only and if being disabled you park there because it is nearer for you then you have to pay.
I was told this today on parking by an officious individual who was not the slightest bit interested in how difficult the changes are going to be on disabled people [I am one of them] I am almost sure that this would come in the range of Disability Discrimination Act.
