From working alongside the likes of Hugh Jackman in the Hollywood blockbuster Les Miserables Eastbourne starlet Isabelle Allen is keeping her acting skills very much in the spotlight with a theatre performance in August.
The 11-year-old who shot to fame playing the young Cosette in the film will be appearing on stage at Regent Park’s open air theatre in The Sound of Music after being picked from hundreds of people to play the role of Brigitta.
The Moira House School pupil, who is one of three girls who will share the role, is looking forward to it.
She said, “It’s my favourite film and I’m really happy to be playing a major role as it’s the one I wanted to do.
“I’m really excited about being in an open air theatre and Brigitta is in a family of seven children and to work alongside other children will be fun.”
The family has praised her school for the support it has given their daughter and mum Elaine said it had allowed the youngster to use some of its facilities to record work for the audition.
She added, “The school is very positive and giving us tremendous support.
“Izzy was absolutely thrilled [to get the part], it was quite a rigorous audition process and they whittled the numbers down. She is just enjoying every minute.”
The Sound of Music will open at Regent Park’s open air theatre on August 5 and runs until September 7.
